Hypotethically speaking… let’s say you are looking at going away for a few days…

  • Maybe you want to fly to New York with the family for an upcoming wedding
  • Maybe you want to visit a broadway play
  • Maybe you been itching to get out of town for a few days

BUT, it’s expensive to fly your whole family across the country, it takes extra vacation time to drive, and maybe you don’t enjoy road tripping… here is you need to find free flights with points from your credit card!

Once you’ve earned a sign up bonus, you are ready to transfer the points to one of the many travel partners . Once you find a flight you like, transfer points in the Ultimate Rewards portal using instructions as previously shared.

Hypothetically speaking you want to go to New York with your spouse.

When I look up flights, I can see that the price of tickets for 2 people is this:

That is a lot of money to just GET there.

So, let’s see how much the exact same flight would cost in points:

Look at that! $22.40 for two round trip flights!

For spending what you usually spend in 3 months to acheive the sign up bonus on your first credit card– you have earned 2 round trip tickets to New York!

Remember, to redeem your points, you have to send them from Chase to United (or wherever you’re redeeming them) and you can see they are SO MUCH MORE VALUABLE when transferring to a partner than just getting “cash back.”

Once you’ve booked your flights… the next step is the hotel! To get your hotel covered for free with points as well, you will need someone in your household to hit another sign up bonus by starting a new card.

Either YOU can do this by opening a new card, OR you refer your partner to open one and you get a referral bonus for doing so!

That’s it for today! If you’re thinking that this is too good to be true, it is! I mean, if you keep opening more and more cards it’s a to keep track of… but wouldn’t a free roundtrip flight somewhere out of town be nice?!!

Remember, the best card for generic Ultimate Rewards points is the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Yes, you have to pay $95 for the card- but do you see the benefit here?

This is my referral link, if you sign up and are approved for the card (none of your credit info is shared, btw), then I’ll get points as well- winwin!
